The Rangers of Thintaur were founded in March of 1999 by Tar-Telperien, also known as Sindacollo, in anticipation of the development and forthcoming game called Middle Earth Online. Tar-Telperien set up a website and began recruiting.

As the membership grew, a new website was created (The Blue and Green Theme) with a rather ominous introductory screen with a voice over in Quenya pronouncing "The wages of sin are death, and payday is coming!" . Alas, Middle Earth Online was doomed and all development on the game was cancelled. With the announcement, the kinship went into a down period.

Then came the announcement for Lord of the Rings Online, and a new enthusiasm overcame the kinship. A new website and forums were developed. Membership once again grew with members from Australia, North America, and Europe. It was at this time that many of the legends of Thintaur began.

• With the unpredictable comings and goings of our founder, Tar-Telperien, rumors began of his body being dragged off into the outback by dingo's.
• The Thintaur Stooges made their debut....we are still trying to decide if that is a good thing.
• The world famous ogre burgers became a fast food Thintaur craze.
• A certain member was discovered in a picture being a little too friendly with a camel.....you really don't want to know.
• The spamming of the forums by Valar and Tristram reached mythical proportions.

Summarizing, this was a wonderful time for the kinship....people from all over the world becoming friends, guessing what form the game would take, and making friends with other kinships that were forming.
